Who doesn't love tomatoes? I mean they are used in the most commonly used condiments around the world, i.e. ketchups. But did you know that these juicy red vegetables are packed full of ingredients that can give us healthy and glowing skin? Tomatoes contain vitamins A, B, and C, which stimulate collagen production, reduce dark spots, fight free radicals, and keep your skin supple.
They also contain minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium that hydrate and promote the overall good health of your skin. Tomatoes contain lycopene, an ingredient that hydrates your skin from within and reduces the chance of wrinkles.
Method number 1 :
Facial mask - Tomato juice and lemon juice
The whitening property of lemon juice and the stimulation of collagen production provided by tomato juice work together to eliminate dark spots from the face.
What you will need:
- 2 tablespoons tomato juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Mode of application:
- Mix tomato juice and lemon juice in a clean bowl.
- Using a cotton pad, apply the juice all over your face, paying special attention to dark spots.
- Wait for it to dry, then rinse with water.
How often?
Daily.
Method number 2 :
Face Mask - Tomato and Sugar
Sugar exfoliates the skin, which helps to remove the pigment spot, while tomato works like a skin bleach.
What you will need:
- 1 tomato
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Mode of application:
- Pour the sugar onto a flat plate.
- Take a piece of tomato and dip it in sugar until one side of the piece is completely covered in sugar.
- With the side covered in sugar, start scrubbing your face in gentle circular motions for 10 minutes, paying particular attention to dark spots.
- Once your face is covered in tomato and sugar, leave it on for another 10 minutes.
- Wash off with warm water.
How often?
Two times a week.
!!! WARNING: Because tomatoes are acidic in nature, they may sting slightly on sensitive skin. Therefore, do a patch test before using any masks and blends that have tomatoes in them.
Tips: Use fresh and organic tomatoes instead of non-organic ones to get the most benefit. Add tomatoes to your daily diet to make the most of the lycopene they contain.
