Would you like to have longer and more beautiful eyelashes, much more magnificent than those with which you were born? With modern eyelash extensions, you will get exactly the eyelashes you have always dreamed of!
I have always wanted to try eyelash extensions. It was once associated with celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez or Christina Aguilera. However, time passes and now the eyelash extension procedure is already firmly established in the spa menu along with manicures and pedicures, and salons specializing in eyelashes are growing like mushrooms.
At first glance, the procedure is not so complicated. The artificial eyelash is glued to each of your existing eyelashes with cyanoacrylate-based glue, which is similar to surgical glue. This is what is now being sought to give length and fullness to the eyelashes, minimizing the need for makeup.
"Old-fashioned, false lashes are coming to an end," says Veronica Tran, owner of Toronto's popular Pretty in the City beauty salon. Such success of eyelash extensions is due to the fact that after a properly performed procedure, the eyelashes do not look artificial at all.
Who can afford eyelash extensions?
As long as your own lashes are at least three millimeters long, you can get extensions.
How much does eyelash extensions cost?
It all depends on which extension option you choose (corner extension, incomplete extension, full extension, 2D, 3D, 6D, etc.), what material you want to use. Either way, tune in for $25 and up.
Most lashes are synthetic mink made of polyester. You can also order real animal mink and no doubt these lashes will look and feel more natural, but be aware that this option is also more expensive and does not last as long as synthetic materials. Although, by the way, some artificial materials also leave much to be desired (“Polish” eyelashes, named for their black sheen, in my opinion, are the least natural.)
How long should eyelash extensions be?
You can, of course, double the length of your lashes. However, trying to make them more than twice as long can cause your natural lashes to have a chance to fall out faster. The eyelash has a thickness of 0.10 to 0.30 millimeters, I would not recommend building anything more than 0.20. Otherwise, if your natural lashes are weak, it will damage them.
How is eyelash extension done?
You should lie down with pads placed over your lower lashes with your eyes closed. Using fine tweezers, the artist dips the artificial lash into the glue and then glues it to your own lash one millimeter above the root. And so every eyelash. In principle, the whole work for both eyes (upper eyelashes) takes about two hours. For best results, lashes should be applied separately. If the beautician does this job in an hour, then she reduces the time due to “bundle styling” (a method when three or more eyelashes are glued together at the same time).
Security Tips
Some people may be allergic to glue, especially those who are hypersensitive to various chemicals and compounds. Therefore, if you decide to increase eyelashes, be sure to tell the beautician about your possible allergies, if you know about it. This is necessary as allergies can cause redness and swelling. And when this happens, it is necessary to get rid of artificial eyelashes, no matter how sorry it is to part with them.
However, don't do it yourself. By pulling your own eyelashes, you will no doubt pull out your own eyelashes. And if such an artificial eyelash gets into the eye, then the irritation will be stronger than from getting your own eyelashes. Eyelash extensions are removed by a specialist using a special solution.
If you often get conjunctivitis, then eyelash extensions are also not for you. First, end your illness once and for all. And then please try! And further. If you have weak cilia or you have oily skin, then keep in mind that eyelash extensions will hold on and please you less than average.
"Maintenance" of eyelash extensions
You should be able to comb your lashes with a clean mascara wand. You won't be able to feel them like your own, for example, but you'll quickly get used to it.
Eyelash extensions can be worn for up to a month, then they just fall out, just like your own eyelashes do from time to time. If you use oil-based makeup and it gets on your lashes, it will significantly shorten the life of the glue. And of course rubbing, don't rub your eyes, otherwise if your artificial lashes are rubbed, not only will you lose your lash extensions, it can also damage your natural lashes to the point of falling out.
You should not wear mascara, but if you do want to use it, then use only water-based mascara (do not use waterproof mascaras). Or use mascaras specially designed for eyelash extensions.
To remove eye make-up, use water-based or gel-based cleansers and a sponge applicator or lint-free cloth.
