POWDER EYEBROWS: all the pros and cons of this technique

This technique has many names: powder spray, powder eyebrows, shadow spray, shading, or even nano pixel technique. Consider its pros and cons.

, OCTOBER 14, 2021

Every woman who wants to look attractive and well-groomed has heard about the traditional technique of eyebrow tattooing. The procedure is quite effective, perfectly hides imperfections in the eyebrow area, making them expressive. But tattooing is a painful procedure that cannot give a natural look to the eyebrows and has a number of disadvantages (color change with unnatural blue, green and even red).

Whether it's the technique of powder eyebrows. A modern, almost painless procedure with a stunning effect. We will talk about what powder eyebrow tattoo is in this article.

WHAT IS POWDER EYEBROWS

Powder eyebrows are an ultra-modern micropigmentation technique that allows you to achieve a natural look of eyebrows. Currently, you can find a number of epithets that symbolize this procedure: nano spraying, velvet, pixel, dot, shadow spraying.

During the procedure, the master introduces pigment into the upper layers of the skin, shading, "stretching" it. An imitation of makeup is created, as if shadows were carefully and softly applied to the skin of the eyebrows or a pencil was shaded. It is for such a beautiful "smoky" effect that the powder eyebrow technique has gained its popularity and today is a favorite among the fair sex.

The result of the procedure is amazing. Eyebrows look neat, well-groomed and natural. There are no clear forms and boundaries, as is typical for classic tattooing or microblading. And most importantly, this technique is suitable for absolutely everyone and has no age restrictions.

WHO IS DESIRED FOR THE EYEBROW TATTOO TECHNIQUE

With the help of powder eyebrows, you can not only add finishing touches to your image, but also effectively hide imperfections. It can be small bald spots, scars, asymmetry, sparse or chaotic hair growth. All flaws can be beautifully hidden by giving the eyebrows beautiful outlines and color.

Based on the capabilities of the technique, it is recommended to make powder eyebrows if:

  • Your eyebrows are too thick, but there are bald spots in some areas;
  • Your eyebrows are too light and you need to color them;
  • Your eyebrows burn out quickly in the sun;
  • Your eyebrows grow chaotically and you want to give them a neater and more beautiful shape;
  • Do you have birth defects in the eyebrow area, scars;
  • You do not want to spend time on make-up every day.

Of course, first of all, the main advantage of micropigmentation is that with its help you can forget about the need to tint your eyebrows with decorative cosmetics for a long time, worrying about whether it has worn off or leaked during the day. Thanks to powder eyebrows, make-up is always and everywhere, under any circumstances, perfect.

ALL FOR OR AGAINST POWDER EYEBROWS

In addition to the aesthetic aspect that the procedure gives, eyebrow tattooing with a powder effect has the following advantages:

  • Minimal skin trauma. The needle is inserted into the uppermost layers of the skin to a depth of 1 mm. Thanks to this, her recovery is quick and painless, and the procedure itself eliminates severe pain;
  • Fast procedure - about 1.5 hours;
  • Hides imperfections;
  • Suitable for women aged 18+.

The disadvantages include only a fairly high cost of the procedure. On average, in Kyiv studios, powder eyebrow tattoo will cost from 3500 to 7500 ₽ plus 50% for the correction, which is required a month after the procedure. It is not recommended to use the service cheaper, since too low a price may indicate the incompetence of the master or savings on pigments, equipment or sterility, which may entail corresponding risks. It is difficult to say that a cheap service will result in a 100% positive or negative result. But, as our experience shows, clients who made a permanent tattoo cheaper than 3000 ₽ regretted it - the consequences of the work of inexperienced masters were obvious. At a minimum, in such cases, correction was required. On the one hand, this is a minus, since it is necessary to partially repeat the procedure and spend money (correction, as a rule, costs 50% of the cost of permanent makeup). On the other hand, it is a plus, since the correction will most likely help eliminate the shortcomings.

HOW IS EYEBROW POWDER APPLIED?

The procedure for powder eyebrows is performed in stages:

  1. Since the appearance of a woman depends on the chosen sketch, color, shape, first of all the master conducts a consultation. Everything is discussed: the shade of the pigment, its intensity of filling, the “drawing” technique (for example, it is now fashionable to introduce pigment from light to dark, the shape of the eyebrow, etc. The master can offer options based on the shape of the face, color and shape of the eyes, hair , skin;
  2. A sketch is created. Eyebrow correction is performed, excess hairs are plucked, the shape is corrected. The master discusses the sketch with the client and corrects it until full agreement;
  3. The next stage is antiseptic treatment and anesthesia. For this, various ointments, gels or sprays are used. For pain relief, lidocaine or another drug based on it can be used. Despite the fact that powder eyebrows are a procedure with minimal skin trauma, damage to it cannot be avoided, as well as pain. In order to minimize all discomfort, the master applies painkillers twice. The first time before the procedure, the second time during it;
  4. Next is the execution of the procedure. The procedure itself involves the creation of microdots through which the pigment is injected. This is done using a special machine with a thin needle at the end. Thanks to this, a shadowy smoky effect is obtained - the pigment "lays down" softly and smoothly;
  5. At the end of the procedure, the master applies a disinfecting and healing cream, advises on care after the procedure, and also makes an appointment for a mandatory correction, which should be done about a month after the first visit to the permanent makeup studio.

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR EYEBROW POWDER

The technique has a huge number of advantages, but, unfortunately, is not suitable for everyone. There are a number of contraindications - diseases, having which it is impossible or not recommended to perform tattooing. These include:

  • Hypersensitivity;
  • Tendency to allergies. To avoid an allergic attack, you can start taking antihistamines a week before the procedure;
  • Diabetes mellitus - people taking insulin;
  • Viral diseases;
  • Various kinds of infections;
  • Poor blood clotting;
  • Severe acne;
  • HIV

Relative contraindications include pregnancy and lactation due to changes in the hormonal background that occurs in the woman's body at this time. The master cannot guarantee that the pigment will be taken with the correct residue. Therefore, in this period, clients do micropigmentation at their own peril and risk. It is also recommended to choose another type of permanent makeup if there is a large amount of gray hair or bald spots on the eyebrows. Powder eyebrows can only partially hide such imperfections, provided that gray hairs are painted over.

HEALING PROCESS OF POWDER EYEBROWS

Despite the fact that the technique provides for minimal trauma to the skin, the healing process lasts about 28 days. The first 5-7 days the skin heals and recovers, the rest of the period the pigment is accepted by the body. It settles, forms the final color.

Immediately after the procedure, the skin will be slightly reddened and swollen. This is the correct reaction of the body to injury to the dermis, which will pass on its own in 1-2 hours.

On the third day, peeling appears - a feature of the technique. It does not provide for the formation of crusts (as, for example, after microblading) - instead of them, thin exfoliating peeling. However, do not try to get rid of it mechanically. Try not to touch your eyebrows, do not tear off dead skin. If itching occurs, do not scratch the area. If you still really want to do this, press with your fingers or cotton swabs over the eyebrows - this will reduce the itching for a while.

An important advantage of the technique is that the healing process is fast and imperceptible. There are no significant changes on the eyebrows that could spoil the look. But remember that during the healing period, the shade of the eyebrows will become lighter.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR EYEBROWS

If earlier the masters recommended the use of healing agents, today the opinion has categorically changed. It was replaced by the statement that without the use of various healing ointments and gels, the skin heals faster. The fact is that it is necessary to use such products carefully and without frills: apply a thin layer at regular intervals. But girls who have made a powdery permanent neglect this and apply ointments in a thick layer. As a result, the pores are clogged, and the healing process is prolonged.

We recommend using only chlorhexidine or another antibacterial agent to remove the lymphatic fluid that is released on the first day after the procedure. This should be done often - as soon as it appears, do not let the lymphatic fluid dry on the eyebrows. As soon as the lymph ceases to be allocated, additional care is not required.

But in order for the healing process to proceed correctly and without negative consequences, it is necessary:

  • Avoid steaming the skin for the first 2-3 weeks after the procedure. It is forbidden to visit steam rooms, a swimming pool, a solarium, to lie in a hot bath for a long time;
  • Exclude the use of decorative cosmetics for the first 10 days, as well as the performance of any cosmetic procedures within a month after the session;
  • If the skin is excessively dry, plain cosmetic Vaseline can be used. It should be applied in a very thin layer for 1-2 hours, and then washed off with water;
  • In the first few days after the procedure, after washing, it is necessary to use a soft cloth or paper towel, gently blotting the eyebrow area.

DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE PROCEDURE

There are requirements that should be observed on the eve of the powder eyebrow procedure. It directly depends on how the pigment will take root, and how the eyebrows will look. The requirements are simple:

  • For several days, do not drink alcohol, antibiotics, blood thinners, caffeine, including energy drinks;
  • With frequent manifestations of allergies, start taking antihistamines. Preparations must be used after the procedure for 2-3 days;
  • Exclude any cosmetic and cosmetic procedures that can damage the skin: scrubbing, peeling (especially chemical), correction, etc.

Choose your timing carefully. We recommend doing it 1 week before an important event and 2 weeks before a vacation. Direct sunlight will negatively affect the tattoo.

LASTING PERMANENT EYEBROW MAKE-UP EFFECT

The duration of the effect is 1.5 - 2 years. But the period is an individual matter and depends on the body, its characteristics, the perception of the pigment, and the way of life.

Such a duration becomes both a minus and a plus. The downside is that some women want the effect to last longer. In this case, you can extend it by correcting and saturating the eyebrows with color. The plus is that after 1.5-2 years, when the pigment brightens and becomes invisible, you can repeat the procedure using this technique and any other, if desired.

Why does the pigment lighten? Because it is made on a mineral basis. For permanent makeup, special pigments are produced, which are famous for their hypoallergenicity, good digestibility and naturalness of the tint palette. Pigments for classic tattooing have a different density and composition. They are made on a chemical basis. As a result, after the permanent is performed, the pigment gradually dissolves and is excreted by the body naturally. After a few years, it becomes completely invisible.

But the duration of the effect depends not only on the body, but also on the type of skin:

  • On young skin, the effect lasts less due to the accelerated metabolism. On the age, respectively, longer;
  • On oily skin, the effect is shorter, as the pigment gradually comes out with subcutaneous fat.

Human immunity also matters. If it is high, then the pigment comes out faster. The body fights with a foreign substance, it does it better.

IS POWDER EYEBROW CORRECTION MANDATORY

Masters of permanent makeup always recommend to do the correction of powdered eyebrows. There are 3 reasons for this:

  • The first procedure is always considered a trial, familiarization, since it is not known how the body will behave, how the pigment will settle and what effect will result. The pigment can partially or completely come out, become much lighter. Any shortcomings are corrected. In its process, the pigment is again injected along the entire length of the eyebrow. It is possible to hide spots, imperfections, saturate with color;
  • It will be possible to partially, if desired, change the shape, make the eyebrows darker;
  • Correction prolongs the duration of the effect.

No one has the right to forcefully make a correction, given that it costs 50% of the price of the service. But, if you want the end result to suit you completely, there are no shortcomings, and the effect is noticeable for its full-fledged period, it is recommended to do it.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO COVER OLD TATTOO WITH POWDER EYEBROWS

None of the permanent tattoo techniques will cover the classic tattoo. The reason for this is the difference in the depths of the introduction of the pigment. When tattooing, it is injected deeply - up to 1.5 mm. With a permanent - up to 1 mm. As a result, the pigment, after an attempt at overlapping, will gradually come out, leaving the old tattoo in place. If you still try to cover the tattoo with powder eyebrows, you will need several corrections. But at the same time, the master will not give a guarantee that the result will be positive.

If the pigment is introduced deeper, then the final appearance cannot be predicted. At first, it can be beautiful, but gradually the pigment after the permanent can change its color and come out in an unexpected, unnatural shade: red, blue, etc.

To get rid of an ugly tattoo made a long time ago, it is recommended that you first remove it. This can be done with a laser or a remover. And after the tattoo is removed and the skin heals, you can make powder eyebrows and enjoy the perfect result.

TOTAL

The technique has a number of advantages and a few minor disadvantages, which are dissolved in the final effect. It is not for nothing that powder spraying is considered the most popular today - every second girl performs it, since the technique gives a stunning, but at the same time natural appearance of eyebrows. Therefore, if you want to feel confident and know that the eyebrows are in perfect order, go for powder eyebrows.
