MICROBLADING
Microblading has many names: biotattoo, 3D-6D-8D tattooing, manual technique, etc. That is why it is so difficult to accurately trace its origin. While not much is known about its earlier history, its popularity has really begun to rise in the last 25 years.
As the English name for this procedure, MICROBLADING, suggests, microblading uses microneedles to implant pigment into the superficial layers of the skin. This is done with a special hand tool, and the master carefully draws each hair, making the eyebrows incredibly NATURAL.
This is a huge step up from the popular eyebrow tattoo some time ago. Because tattooed eyebrows tend to look unnatural. The tattoo used black ink, and over time, the eyebrows tend to take on a bluish-greenish tint, which will eventually lead to the fact that you can have "colored" eyebrows that look like they were drawn with a felt-tip pen. It's not a very pretty sight.
Eyebrows with microblading look more natural. The hair pattern matches your natural hair growth pattern. This procedure uses pigments with yellow and orange tints, so even after time they do not lose their natural color. You and your stylist should work together to determine your most natural skin tone and hair color.
IS MICROBLADING SUITABLE FOR YOU?
In addition to your style preferences, there are other factors to consider when choosing the right product to enhance the look of your brows.
People with normal to dry skin are ideal for microblading. Since a hand tool is used for this, the pigment does not penetrate as deeply into the skin. When this is done on oilier skin, the staying power will not be as good and will not last as long. An alternative procedure called "Microshading", which usually uses a special machine, is more suitable for people with oily skin.
Your microblading brows can last from a few months to a year, but their durability is still up to the individual. Remember that microblading is considered semi-permanent makeup, so be prepared to come in for a restoration procedure three to six months after your first visit.
MICRO SHADING (Microshading)
As mentioned above, microshading is great for those with oily or shiny skin, as well as those who sweat more often. It is also more suitable if you have sensitive skin.
Another main difference between microblading and shading is the technique itself. Instead of creating separate strokes for the hair, the microshading artist repeatedly creates small dots in the brow area. This allows the pigment to better adhere to oilier skin.
WHAT STYLES ARE USED IN MICROSHADING
There are two ways the microshading procedure can be done, depending on how you would like your brows to look. And since the technique is very versatile, you can combine or add different effects.
Soft powder coating
Typically, clients who opt for shading want a softer, more subtle result. This gives your brows natural growth while still looking stunningly natural. This is great for those who like to fill in their brows with a lighter shade.
INSTAGRAM BROW, Instagram Eyebrows
Another popular term for microshading is "Instagram Brow". Since shading is more advanced and uses more versatile tools, the artist can tweak the technique a bit and give your brows a fuller and bolder look. This is perfect for people who like their brows to look like brows with makeup on.
With this technique, your stylist can create a gradient effect on your brows, as you usually see on models and celebrities. All this is even better emphasized in combination with microblading, and this technique is called combined eyebrows, which will be discussed below.
IS MICRO SHADING SUITABLE FOR YOU?
Your stylist may also recommend microshading instead of microblading if you go overboard with plucking your brows. Microblading requires you to have some of your natural brow hair, even if it is sparse, so that your stylist can replicate or mimic natural hair growth.
Microshaded brows also tend to last longer than microbladed brows, so they require less frequent maintenance. Considering the cost and frequency of sessions, some may prefer microshading to other brow treatments.
COMBINED EYEBROWS
Combination brows are a combination of the above two procedures. With this technique, the master can achieve thicker and clearer eyebrows. Surprisingly, they will still look natural with a touch of makeup.
Combination brows work with different skin types, so they give clients more options when it comes to enhancing the look of their brows. You will also have the option to add an ombre effect on top of this look.
Combination brows are characterized by feathered hairs from the beginning to the middle, and then go to the powder to the tails. This is what creates extra definition that is not as noticeable in micro-petaled brows.
In most cases, the realization that it is possible to get combined eyebrows is what makes clients finally decide on this procedure. This is especially true when they can't seem to decide between different procedures.
EYEBROW OMBR
The magic of the various microblading techniques is that you can do so many things and combine them together. As mentioned above with combo brows, some clients may want to add an ombre effect to their brows. This style is similar to the ombre hairstyle. When the shade goes from light to dark, your ombre brows will have a two tone effect.
According to microblading master instructors, the first thought when you see ombre brows is “manicured brows”. They seem brighter, bolder and more fashionable. This look will appeal to those who like to keep up with changing fashion trends!
This style will suit a wider range of clients. It is great for people with natural, oily, dry and combination skin. If you want to include it as an additional treatment besides microblading or microshading, you should first consider if your skin type is suitable for the main procedure.
HOW TO CLOSE OLD TATTOO EYEBROWS
Those who have previously done permanent eyebrow makeup, such as eyebrow tattooing, should consider several factors when choosing the right product to cover them.
Many clients with old tattooed eyebrows are constantly thinking about how to make their eyebrows look more natural. One thing to consider is the depth of the ink that is still under the skin. Compared to microblading, a tattoo brings ink into the deeper layers of the skin. Microblading is only recommended if the ink has not gone too deep. Otherwise, the eyebrows will remain very dark, and the hair strokes will not be visible enough to make a difference.
In this case, you may want to first consider removing the old tattoo before doing another semi-permanent brow enhancement. However, if your tattooed brows have already faded significantly and you have oily skin, microshading would be a better alternative.
